Playlist at Bar Marco

The Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra’s signature eclectic mix will highlight the orchestra’s talented singers and instrumentalists in a collection of solo and small-group pieces.  Special guest and collaborator Shana Simmons Dance will guide the audience through smaller ensemble pieces…creating a set “playlist” to listen and watch. As part of this collaboration, E.L.C.O. and Shana Simmons dance will present the premier of “Dance Solo”, a piece composed for dancer and clarinet.

E.L.C.O. showcases local Pittsburgh orchestral musicians while presenting an eclectic and provocative musical repertoire that ranges from the Middle Ages to the Avant-Garde.  With the stated goal of breaking down the artificial musical walls of style, genre and historical period — E.L.C.O. focuses on the often unacknowledged connections between classical and rock music.

Shana Simmons Dance creates choreography taking inspiration from the immediate world in which we are living.  These choreographic expressions are created from the ways in which our society is changing, the need for intimate connections to people and objects, and giving the viewer a unique perspective.
